Spy shots of the Mercedes-Benz VLE hybrid have recently surfaced. The all-electric version of the vehicle has already undergone regulatory filing in China, while the hybrid variant will utilize the hybrid powertrain found in the CLA and GLA models. The new vehicle is scheduled for release in the first half of 2027, with deliveries commencing in the second half of the year.
In terms of appearance, the hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz VLE retains the same design as the all-electric model, though the front end features an open-style grille that reveals the radiator behind it; a fuel filler cap has been added to the rear left side, while the charging port is located on the right. An exhaust system is visible beneath the bumper of the test vehicle, further confirming that it is equipped with an internal combustion engine.
In terms of powertrain, the Mercedes-Benz VLE is built on the dedicated VAN.EA platform and shares its powertrain components with the next-generation CLA and GLA models based on the MMA architecture. It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor; the high-end version delivers a maximum output of 190 horsepower and features the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
