Co-designed with Huawei Qiankun and set to take on the AITO M9, the Avatr 9 series will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

We recently learned from Changan Automobile that the Avatr 9 series is set to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show this October. Positioned as a large SUV, the Avatr 9 series is a joint design by Avatr and Huawei Qiankun, integrating the core achievements of both parties in original design, intelligent technology, and electric vehicle systems (batteries, motors, and electronic controls); it also features battery technology from CATL and Avatr’s proprietary Taihang technology.

In terms of appearance, the Avatr 9 series adopts the brand's new high-end design language, featuring an overall boxy and structured silhouette. The front-end design draws inspiration from the "Shang Dynasty tripod and dragon-foot" concept, centering on the brand logo; it incorporates a split-headlight setup with diamond-cut detailing and features a large, finely textured chrome-plated metal panel in the center. A LiDAR unit is mounted at the top of the front fascia—part of a four-LiDAR hardware architecture—with the front unit boasting an 896-line specification.

The vehicle's profile features bold, clean lines, semi-concealed door handles, and large multi-spoke wheels, with options for either a two-tone or a solid body color scheme. In terms of dimensions, the Avatr 9 series measures 5,285 mm in length, 2,025 mm in width, and 1,810 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,150 mm, and utilizes a 2+2+2 six-seat layout.

The rear features a full-width taillight and a roof-mounted spoiler, while the rear window offers good visibility. Chrome accents adorn various parts of the vehicle, reinforcing its status as a flagship model, and a panoramic glass roof is also provided.

The new vehicle incorporates three core technologies: the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving system, Avatr’s all-new Taihang intelligent control technology, and the Huawei Qiankun XMC digital chassis. The Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 leverages a next-generation hardware architecture featuring four LiDAR sensors to deliver advanced intelligent driving capabilities. The Taihang intelligent control technology integrates distributed electric drive systems and closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension, supporting features such as rear-wheel steering and "crab walk" mode, while enabling a minimum turning radius in the 4-meter range. Finally, the Huawei Qiankun XMC digital chassis is fully integrated with the Taihang technology; utilizing proprietary innovative algorithms, it achieves multimodal fusion of vehicle-road perception and AI-driven spatiotemporal suspension control.

In terms of powertrain, the Avatr 9 series debuts the brand's all-new intelligent super hybrid system, offering two plug-in hybrid configurations. The first combines a 2.0T hybrid engine with a distributed electric drive system featuring three motors; the engine delivers a maximum power of 155 kW, while the three motors offer peak outputs of 180 kW, 225 kW, and 225 kW, respectively. The second configuration pairs a 1.5T hybrid engine with a dual-motor setup; the engine produces a maximum power of 110 kW, and the two motors provide peak outputs of 180 kW and 310 kW, respectively. Both powertrain versions achieve a top speed of 220 km/h.

The new model lineup is equipped with a 71.24 kWh CATL "Xiaoyao" super E-REV/hybrid battery; the maximum pure-electric range under the CLTC cycle exceeds 400 km, while the pure-electric range figures filed with the MIIT (WLTC cycle) comprise three versions: 300 km, 320 km, and 330 km.
