BYD Seal 08 will be launched on July 2nd. Just how "prestigious" is this flagship sedan?

We recently learned from BYD that the Seal 08 will be officially launched on July 2nd. The new car is positioned as BYD's flagship mid-to-large-sized sedan in the marine industry and will offer plug-in hybrid and pure electric models.

In terms of appearance, the Seal 08 adopts the Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design, featuring a split headlight design on the wave-breaking front fascia. The Ice Eye daytime running lights have the signature design of the Ocean family, while the lower headlights are surrounded by deep-sea starry sky ambient lighting, containing two lens headlight groups. A lidar is installed on the roof, providing an advanced driver assistance system.

The car has a long and sleek body. In terms of dimensions, the new model measures 5150/1999/1505mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3030mm. It features a new semi-concealed door handle design, and the electric suction doors add a touch of luxury. The taillights have a tidal gradient design, resembling waves, and the car boasts a coupe-like fastback profile.

In terms of powertrain, the new car will offer plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions. The pure electric version is built on an 800V high-voltage platform, equipped with a second-generation blade battery and flash charging technology. The four-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 510kW, a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.3 seconds, and a CLTC range of 900km. The plug-in hybrid version will be equipped with a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system, with dual motors delivering a maximum power of 400kW. It features a 45.36kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, offering a pure electric range of 400km and a combined range of 1000km. The new car will also feature rear-wheel steering and Cloud Carriage A technology.
