New Geely Galaxy E5 to Launch on September 23; Actual Vehicle Revealed with Added LiDAR and Upgraded Powertrain

We recently learned from Geely that the new Geely Galaxy E5 is set to launch on September 23; the new model is expected to feature Geely's AI smart charging technology and the next-generation Aegis Short Blade battery.

In terms of appearance, the new Geely Galaxy E5 refines the design of the current model; it features a reinforced front bumper, new decorative elements, and an active grille shutter system. Additionally, a LiDAR sensor has been added to the roof.

In terms of dimensions, the new vehicle measures 4,636 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm; both the length and width have increased compared to the current model. New features include cameras added to the front fenders and privacy glass for the second-row windows, while the door handles have reverted to a traditional design, replacing the previous flush-mounted style. The vehicle offers newly designed wheels in 18-inch and 19-inch sizes, fitted with 225/55 R18 and 235/50 R19 tires, respectively. A camera has been added to the top of the rear section to enhance rear-view monitoring capabilities, while other aspects remain consistent with the current model.

In terms of the interior, the design carries over from the current model, retaining the large, floating center touchscreen while introducing a newly styled three-spoke steering wheel that offers improved ease of use. Additionally, the cabin features a new crystal rotary controller that delivers a more premium feel. The new model also incorporates a head-up display (HUD) system and an intelligent robot. At the front, the vehicle gains a spacious "frunk" (front trunk) to further enhance storage capacity—a feature that was absent in the previous Galaxy E5.

In terms of powertrain, the new model continues to feature a single-motor setup but delivers improved performance, with a maximum output of 245 kW—an increase of 85 kW over the current model. It is expected to incorporate Geely’s AI smart charging technology and the new-generation Shendun Blade Battery. The chassis retains the configuration of front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension.
