2026 Chengdu Motor Show: All-new generation Tang officially unveiled; set for market launch in the fourth quarter of this year.

On August 21, the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show officially kicked off, and BYD unveiled its new-generation mid-size SUV—the all-new Tang (designated as the third-generation Tang). According to earlier reports, the new vehicle will form a dual-model lineup alongside the current Tang; it will adopt a new naming system and is scheduled for official market launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.

In terms of exterior design, the new vehicle draws inspiration from the "Tang" model; the enclosed front grille, combined with upswept headlights and a full-width chrome strip, creates a front-end appearance that is both imposing and stylish. Regarding driver assistance, the vehicle will feature the "Eye of the Gods" (Tianshen Zhiyan) B-level assisted driving system. Equipped with a LiDAR sensor, it supports advanced functions such as urban and highway pilot assist and automatic parking—including capabilities like navigating traffic lights, autonomous lane changing, yielding to pedestrians, and passing through ETC toll gates.

At the rear, the vehicle features a full-width taillight assembly with the BYD logo positioned in the center, complemented by a large spoiler above that adds visual depth. In terms of dimensions, it measures 5,045 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm and front and rear tracks of 1,700 mm; this indicates that the all-new Tang is essentially identical to the Tang L in length, wheelbase, and height, though slightly smaller in body width and track width.

In terms of the interior, the vehicle adopts a brand-new design language featuring an integrated dual-screen setup, with a slender, full-LCD display positioned above the central touchscreen to show information such as multimedia, weather, an inclinometer, and gear modes. Additional features include wireless smartphone charging and physical control buttons.

In terms of powertrain, the vehicle has currently been filed with a single-motor configuration featuring the TZ205QYD drive motor; it delivers a maximum power output of 300 kW and has a rated top speed of 250 km/h. Additionally, according to the 33rd batch of the catalogue of new energy vehicle models eligible for purchase tax exemptions, the vehicle will offer battery packs with capacities of 88.682 kWh and 105.792 kWh, providing CLTC-rated pure electric ranges of 730 km, 830 km, and 850 km. It is also expected to be equipped with the Yunlian-A intelligent air body control system, featuring dual-chamber air suspension and intelligent road-surface preview capabilities that allow for rapid responses to changing road conditions.
