Official images of the 2027 Toyota Sequoia have been released. This update focuses on enhancing intelligent features and introduces a new factory-built "Trailhunter" off-road trim, equipped with a comprehensive suite of off-road-ready gear. Full specifications, pricing, and the production schedule for the new model will be officially announced later this autumn.

In terms of exterior design, the 2027 Sequoia features a front-end with sharper lines, utilizing styling cues that emphasize horizontal width to create a more planted, substantial stance. Depending on the trim level, the vehicle incorporates revised chrome accents, a restyled grille, rectangular fog lights, and a cleaner design for the lower front bumper, resulting in a look that is significantly more distinctive than that of the outgoing model.

Regarding the interior, the upgrade to smart features is the core highlight of this refresh; the entire 2027 Sequoia lineup comes standard with Toyota’s latest 14-inch infotainment touchscreen. The new interface features a customizable home screen with widgets and significantly improved voice recognition responsiveness, while also supporting 5G connectivity across the board. A dashcam—previously an aftermarket add-on—is now standard equipment, capable of recording 20-second video clips either manually or automatically during events such as collisions. Digital key functionality has also been comprehensively expanded; owners can now store the vehicle key directly in Apple, Google, or Samsung digital wallets, enabling operations like unlocking and starting the car without opening the dedicated Toyota app, while also allowing vehicle access to be shared with up to five other drivers. Additionally, Toyota’s latest Safety Sense 4.0 suite comes standard on all 2027 Sequoia models.

Regarding the powertrain, official details on adjustments have not yet been released; however, based on current model specifications, the new vehicle is highly likely to retain the existing i-Force MAX hybrid system. This setup combines a 3.4L twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor, delivering a maximum power output of 326 kW and peak torque of 790 N·m. A 2.4 kW onboard inverter has been added across the lineup, enabling direct power supply for camping or tailgating equipment, while select high-end models will feature grille-mounted high-intensity LED spotlights and RIGID-branded fog lights.

The newly introduced Trailhunter trim marks the Sequoia family's first entry into this off-road-focused lineup; based on the entry-level SR5, it is positioned as an entry-level off-road model. Its specifications include Michelin all-terrain tires, an upgraded Old Man Emu suspension system, front recovery hooks, reinforced underbody skid plates, and exclusive bronze-colored wheels, while also coming standard with a rear locking differential, Crawl Control, and a Multi-Terrain Select system. The updated Sequoia lineup retains its six existing trims—SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone—with the Trailhunter serving as a new off-road variant that fills a gap in the product range.
