Equipped with urban NOA intelligent driving capabilities, the Volkswagen ID. ERA 5S is set to launch in the third quarter.

On July 23, SAIC Volkswagen announced that the ID. ERA 5S—a brand-new mid-size sedan in the ID. ERA lineup—is set to launch in the third quarter. As the second model in the ID. ERA series, it will be Volkswagen's first sedan globally to feature advanced urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) intelligent driving capabilities, equipped with the "Xingyun" advanced driver-assistance system and the "Yunqi" intelligent cockpit.

To recap, the ID. ERA 5S features the brand's signature design language; a closed-off front grille paired with "Star Ring" headlights and an illuminated central Volkswagen logo gives it distinctive visual recognition. In terms of color options, the vehicle will be available in Urban Gold, Stylish Green, Avant-garde Black, Modern White, and Skyline Grey.

In profile, the vehicle features semi-concealed door handles and multi-spoke wheels, enhancing its premium feel. At the rear, it adopts a full-width taillight design that visually echoes the front end and incorporates a small blue light indicator for the driver-assistance system. Measuring 4,836 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,766 mm, the vehicle is positioned as a mid-size sedan.

In terms of the interior, the vehicle features a wraparound cockpit design complemented by 255-color dynamic ambient lighting and chrome accents throughout, creating a refined look. It is also equipped with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a column-mounted gear selector, a floating center touchscreen, and a fully digital instrument cluster; the center console houses a wireless smartphone charging pad and side-by-side cup holders, catering to the needs of modern users.

The vehicle will feature the "Xingyun Zhixing" advanced intelligent driving assistance system, supporting both highway and urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) capabilities; it will be the Volkswagen brand's first sedan globally to offer urban NOA functionality. In terms of powertrain, the ID. ERA 5S is equipped with a 1.5L plug-in hybrid system, featuring an engine with a maximum power of 80 kW and an electric motor with a peak power of 130 kW. Official figures indicate a CLTC pure-electric range of 160 km, a combined range exceeding 2,000 km, and a CLTC fuel consumption of as low as 2.82 L/100 km in depleted-battery mode.
